Specifically the mechanics to the sd card slot seems to have stuck so I can't put a card in!

I've already sent off a few emails to local camera repair shops in the hope it's a cheap fix, but if not I might need to buy a new one!

Question is... What a6xxx series should I get? I'd be going 2ñd hand and I'd want to go cheap as possible, but what would give me the best bang to buck in the 2019 market place!

Just as a pointer.. I'm absolutely fine with the quality of the a6000 and I've got lots of apsc lenses so I'd be limiting myself to the a6xxx series... I might even get another a6000 on the cheap!

I thought they'd be cheaper than that by now 2nd hand! Considering there's been alot of new models in that range! Still waiting to hear back about repairs. But, I'm now thinking an upgrade is on the horizon!

If you don't need any extra bells and whistles then the a6100 would be a good replacement. It's worth reading what DPReview said about it to see if it's a better choice that just another a6000.

The next significant updates in the A6XXX series are

A6400 - particularly improved focus
A6500 - has IBIS

Any others (unless you go for the A6600 top end of the range) are only relatively minor upgrades vs the A6000 and therefore I'd suggest would make sense to get a A6000.

So in my view and depending on your budget the choice would be between A6000, A6400 and A6500.

That's interesting to know. I've never experienced the focusing to be sluggish on my a6000 so that's not something I'm looking to upgrade. The ibis would be nice but then again all my lenses are OSS so again, maybe not that a big deal.

Just got an email back from a repairer who've said minimum parts cost would be 60 quid, then I'd need to consider Labour.. so could easily be over 100 quid.. so all of a sudden picking up a replacement a6000 could work out more cost effective. Warranty too if I get it fom mpb.

Wonder if they'd take a trade on for a broken a 6000...

A silent shutter is one thing I like very much. You have to watch out for banding under artificial lights but even so it can be a very nice thing to have.
