Some time ago I played with high speed photography and eggs.

The issue I had was enough speed so I got a Shutterbeam sound and Motion trigger from Wex, bloody expensive mind and used it to trigger to the sound of an air pistol which shot the egg.
Now, this has sat under my bench for some time and it is unlikely to move.
I do not see as much high speed photography as I once did and was wondering about selling it.

Is there still an interest in this? Is it worth hanging onto?

Wow. Looks like good fun.

Thinking about it I used to see images like this all over the place but can't say I've seen any for a year or so.

it certainly was Trevor, if nothing els, we had a good laugh doing it.

Thats exactly why I thought I'd pose the question... has the fad passed and it's had it's time.

Yes. Used to do a lot of this stuff a couple of years ago. Makes one hell of a mess, but get three or four of you in the garage and it's a real day of fun.
Not sure what you paid for your trigger; buying from WEX sounds expensive. Mine cost £70 or so.
Maybe the fad has passed for the time being.
I'd gladly have another bash if I could find an interesting variation on the theme.

See, now that has just piqued my interest again...I paid £750 for this trigger so you are quite right, it wasn't cheep, it is a clever bit of kit though.
It was designed to get birds on the wing using a beam but I used it for the sound trigger aspect,
I may just have another bash for the sake of fun.

Me being a spanner...

So it is. Sorry.
£750!!! that's a lot of money. There was even a company with some tenuous links to this site that was selling triggers for far less than that. Think they've fallen by the wayside though. Mine is somewhat unrefined, but does everything that the posh versions do. BIF, sound, vibrations etc! £750? Wow.
You're a bit too far away to meet up - I'm North of Liverpool so I hope you get some good results.

It was, but it does a lot and the idea was to use all it's features.
One idea was to photograph bats on the wing as they break the beam, the camera and shutter beam could be set up and left overnight.
Just one more thing I never got around to and ended up shooting eggs.
I may shoot more eggs... and stuff!I
I got hold of a few Vivitar flash guns with the old style thyristor as they could be bypassed and gave a pulse of 1/3000th second.
I still have all the gear... I need to get it out.

If you look at my egg shot above that is just one egg. We set the flash to pulse and using dark room technique managed to catch half a dozen pulses.

An awesome idea, I have just been looking through some of your other images, stunning work.

We used Canon 580 EXII flash guns. Don't ask how we set them up.....took a lot of reading the book!
