Are squirrels ungrateful.

This morning when I went to feed the birds in my garden. A squirrel ran out and scampered around my feet. So I gave it a couple of peanuts. These it promptly ran off and buried in the corner of the garden. So I gave it another which it ate.
As I returned indoors it followed me into the kitchen and begged by sitting up and looking at me, So I gave it another nut.
As I bent down to put another on the floor in front of me, it promptly bit me deeply on the finger.
Lots of blood and TCP and a plaster later, it had gone again.
I have not seen it before but it must be used to humans.

Not a mention of thanks, but may be a permanent mark to remember him by.

Still if he keeps visiting I might get his Photo.

You can borrow my 12 bore for £5 :D

I would be a bit more cautious and getting a bite from any wild mammal is not a good idea.

I've heard that grey squirrels in some parts of Yorkshire are rabies carriers:shrug::cool:

I would get a Tetanus shot

That won't help rabies:shake:

Terry
Should you develop Tetanus or Rabies please bite Brash

Thanks

I've been bitten by worse thing than either of you and even squirrels:D

I am covered for tetanus
I am told that those with rabies don't eat or drink.

They eat but don't drink. Hydrophobia (which'll probably be made illegal by the HR Eurocrats very soon:cool:)

A few years ago I was in A&E as was a doctor who usually worked in that dept. He had been on a golf course with some friends and as a joke they had stuck a squirrel in his ball bag (or whatever the pouch you keep balls in is called...) Sure enough, he shanked one and needed a new ball - the bite he got from the captive squirrel was to the bone and needed several stitches. It really was a case of "Does it hurt?" "Yes, it's agony when I laugh..." for me!

The last case of rabies in the UK caught from an indigenous animal was about 100 years ago. I wouldn't worry too much.

Ah but grey squirrels are non indigenous vermin, 1st
introduced around 1876 IIRC :D

I reckon if grey squirrels had rabies they would have been exterminated by now!

I can vouch for that after clapping eye`s on yer ugly mug for the first time. :D
