I want a pentax me super and after hunting through adverts, ebay etc, receiving a faulty camera (my fault, I believe) :'( I want to buy a film camera with an actual company, thats serviced their stock and offers warranty.

This looks a great site and although a little pricey I can live with that if I get one in good condition, tested with the six month warranty. I couldnt find any reviews online, though.

Would you pay those prices and are they any good?
 
Cheers for the link. Cant believe there are only four reviews out there though and that no one on this forum seems to know much about them!

May take the leap in the next couple of weeks and see what happens. They also have an ebay shop. It's just pricey - a pentax me super and lens - £70+ ?
 
Sadly I dont have a credit card, only a debit card. What about paypal?
 
Thanks "steep" for your interesting comment on us, but no, sadly we are not a chinese box shifter.

Our company was originally founded as a Camera repairers in 1991 - hence the "shop window" has blinds up as we use the premises as a repair workshop (and office). Our clients includes: Schools/Colleges, Police, NHS, other retailers and the public

Although we have a low amount of feedbacks/reviews, our eBay outlet does contain over 8,500 postive ratings (Nov '12) - which we hope can offer buyers the confident in purchasing from us.

Our checkout system offers all buyers a "buyers protection policy", regardless if they use a credit or debit card. More info on how secure the checkout is can be found on the paypal website (who operates our checkout system).

However, should anyone have any concerns, please feel free to phone or email for a chat (although in English as our chinese is not too good :-)

That's good to know, there are so many scam photography supplier sites that alarm bells start to ring when the least thing seems wrong.

Why the heck do you have a completely different trading name to your ebay account (that doesnt inspire much confidence) , nor does the fact that feedback in the last 12 months is actually 402 - the 8.5k is a whole life feedback most of which can't be seen

Thank-you for your comment. We cannot always agree or disagree on everyones views. However, all we can say is that the ME Super with 50mm f1.7 lens mentioned has been fully reconditioned/service, and sold with a six months warranty.

The ME Super as most people are aware is a 1970-80s camera with early electronics. Because of their age, they are becoming problematic (if that is a word!) with the PCB becoming the main issue.

Because of this, we service all our units to ensure that when we sell it, we can confirm that it is sold as 100% working - and that we are confident in selling the item.

We have to allow customers to shop around, they may be able to obtain a ME Super for a lower price, but can the retailer offer it as being a serviced unit?

All 9,089 Feedback received (total) can be viewed on eBay without problems, streching all the way back to 2001. Just click the feedback, and view all.
 
I've no interest in this becoming an argument but to summarise so far

your address goes to what appears to be a closed shop front (we have only your word that it isnt a mail drop)

you have one name on your url, and a different one as your trading name

you have only four online reviews, the most recent highly negative

an ebay trader in your trading name has only 9 feedbacks

you say that your ebay trader is actually a 3rd completely different name :thinking: with 8.5k feedbacks but only 400 of them in the last 12 months and only 139 in the last 6 months

To be honest you arent filling me with confidence in your product - and I'm also lost as to how a 'service' is going to add anything if the main known problem with these cameras is the PCB which can't realistically be serviced anyway or how this 'service' justifies charging substantially more than the going rate

As you say the customer has to make their own choice at the end of the day, but personally I don't see the logic in paying arround twice the usual price in order to have 6 months warranty

This thread turned interesting :D:p It IS expensive, and I think I am going to have to save a little and think and ponder before I make the next move. Thank you for all the replies, I'll let you know how it goes.
