ive downloaded a trial and will have a look for you sarah, are you still messing with selective colouring?

yes and its doing my head in i really wont a go . bohooo

right well a quick look at the layers pallet...

to make a blank new layer, just click the new layer icon

to make a copy of the original layer, click the copy, then the paste icon

so to make this picture..

open original image, save the image as a new file so you dont ruin the original, copy and paste the layer so there are now 2 layers. Click the 'eye' of the top layer to make that layer invisible for now, and work on the bottom image by clicking on the small picture on that layer.
I have changed the colour of the bear by altering the Hue(I wont go into that in detail, basically select Enhance from the menu and then Hue and Saturation, slide the Hue slider to change the colours)

Make top layer visible by clicking on the eye of that layer, then click on the picture in that layer to make it the working layer

Decide how you want to do the selective colouring, in this case im just going to delete the top layer bits that i want to change colour of, i select them using the magic selector tool and delete the bits i miss with the rubber tool.

i hope that helps a little? Experimentation is the best way forward, i havent used this software before so I dont fully grasp it but it appears to be similar to Photoshop:)

nice one Slapo, im sure there is enough info between the 2 of us to get the lady rocking!

am trying to do a b&w image with the colour of the flower only if u get what i mean . i juat cant make it B&W do u know how to do that

its the b&w am strugling with i cant find it on there anywhere

OMG I THINK I HAVE DONE IT . I CAN MAKE IT B&W IT I TAKE SATURATION TOTALY OFF YA YA YA

THANK U SO MUCH MATTY FOR HELPING ME BUT IF U FIND ANOTHER WAY TO CHANGE PIC 2 B&W LET ME KNOW PLEASE X X

the greyscale seems to make a new image with the same layers and then desaturate, then copy the desaturated layer, then go to the old colour layers and paste the greysclae in, works a treat and gives a better mono than straight desaturation.

its not bad software actually, i dont know how much it costs though

No, it's not bad, but for the feature set it offers, $79.99 does seem to be a bit too much. Particularly when Paint.NET, Serif PhotoPlus 6 and the GIMP offer the same or bigger feature set and aren't really more difficult to use. Then again, if they added layer modes and layer masking capabilities to ArcSoft Photostudio, then it might not be bad... still not much better than the GIMP, though.

ouch $80??? hmm that is steep, Serif always sell the old photoplus versions off for £10, ive picked up some good stuff over the years through those offers

u can down load it for free i got 4 copys of it with my cam . i think they packed them by mistake

ArcSoft does OEM software, so your cam manufacturer probably made a deal with them.

It's an OK app and seems to do what it can do rather well.

Have you succeeded in your selective (de)saturation attempts?
