Applying for my dataco license

Hi all,

I have now had my 15 pictures published and paid for (23 to be exact) this season and am going to be submitting my application for a dataco license for league football in the summer.

For each picture I have;

• The original paper with the picture(s) in
• A pdf/jpg of the relevant pages as well
• My invoice stating that I am charging for “2 pictures from XYZ Blue Square North match on this date”
• The remittance notice from the paper with corresponding invoice number on

From other people’s experiences, is there anything else I should be aware of in the application process? I don’t want to submit the application and be caught out by some minor technicality.

My original application ws ignored with no explanation or communication even though I had filled all the criteria exactly as you had... derek jonston (who is no longer there) knows me as we have spoken many times.. he presumed all the games i went to where for the local paper and as such they had applied for accreditation.. i had to make it perfectly clear that all games where done on my licence with accreditation applied for in my name before he would consider it..


thus my advice is a covering letter pointing out quite clearly that all games where using your licence and you applied for accreditation..dont presume they will know that. Along with what you ahve above will get you the licence..

Sat here not knowing the time scales.. should I chase it should I not.. incredibly frustrating indeed

Probably increased the feeling when I finally did get it.. you get the imnpression they will do everyhting they can not to give it you..

Once got its easy to keep (for me) and I can get my 15 published in the first month of the season as I cover a league team for a regional paper who use at least 2 a match.. It was the all important getting it in the first place.. I know what has to be done so always take my hat off to anyone else who can manage it
