Hi,
I've been using Apple Mac magic mouses now for years and I'm starting to get strain injury in my hand. They're technically a great mouse but awfully uncomfortable.
What recommendations do people have for good alternatives? I'd say the only criteria is it must be optical and wireless.
Thanks

One alternative you may want to consider is a pen tablet like wacom. They take a bit of getting used to but may help with the strain

Agree with this. Or the track pad but I found it difficult to get used to with LR edits specially the brushes.

I tend to use multiple devices depending on what I'm doing...

  • Wacom Pen / Tablet is the best for image editing.
  • The Apple track pad for browsing (principally as it allows access to all the gestures).
  • A gaming mouse (for, err gaming!)
That said, if you want to stick to a mouse, you might look at the gaming mice genre - they are much more ergonomic and support your hand much better.

I have used a variety of Logitech optical ball mice for at least five years and don't suffer in the way you mention as the hand rests on them in a totally different way.

You can use pretty much any pointing device you want to, there's absolutely no need to stick with Apple.

One thing to bear in mind is that most wireless devices work with their own USB dongle rather than Bluetooth, so you will lose a USB port when using them. My Wacom Intros Pro is a good example of this.

Apple track pad for general use, and a wacom tablet fir precision work. I love the combination.
