I'm a lightroom user and love it, is aperture worth considering on a mbp or shall I stick with what I know?

Discuss :p

They do the same, I used to use aperture but changed to Lightroom.

Version three is still twitchy on Aperture if you do change to that wait a while but to be honest I think lightrroom is just a good even better in some respects.

Me too, but went back to Aperture when they introduced the brushes in A3. I can't stand the organisation of LR and Aperture just suits me perfectly, and tends to be a LOT faster.

If you've already got a Windows Lightroom licence, you can transfer it over to the Mac if you email Adobe IIRC. If you're happy with it, then no point forking out the extra.

However, it may be worth downloading the Aperture trial and giving it a go, you never know...

I'd keep lightroom if i were you. If you HAVE to spend some money (i know i do if i have it!) look at Nik Software to speed up and improve your images! Or get some presets for Lightroom.

I use Nik plugins for Lightroom and they are spot on, best black and white converter I have used and the adjustment points are super..

I tried Aperture 2 when it came out, but much preferred Lightroom, because I was used to it, it doesn't cost anything to try it out when you get your Mac though.

If you have lightroom and love it then you have answered your own question. I don't have lightroom and was in the market after getting an imac so bought Aperture 3 and absolutely love it. The brushes are fantastic as are faces and places and so far not a glitch in sight. Superb piece of software.

Aperture is made for mac... its seemless works with all other mac applications and is a pretty good processsing programme.

I like Aperture 3 it rocks

just kinda wondering if aperture did something I need lightroom doesn't

bouncing ideas around is all

Which plugins are those?

The B&W one is Silver Effex Pro by KIK Software and is awesome!! I don't know how it processes the image but it does a damn good job and as much as i tried to make an image look the same i just can't (except once only!). Silver efex pro is fast and dead easy to use plus makes 99% of images look the nut's in B&W. I have mine working in Lightroom 2.5 and Elements 6 both on Mac.

NIK also do a couple other products for colour images that look good.

I use Aperture 2 and it works well for me. LR would suit me, was it not for the way I can caption files and add other IPTC date a lot quicker and easier in Aperture. My advice, stick with LR unless you need to change because LR isn't fulfilling your needs.
