Hi all,
I'm still playing with my new imac and am just a bit impressed with simple iphoto 09 and am thinking of buying it's bigger brother Aperture.
BUT...
Pre-mac I used ViewNX to process RAW's, export as JPEG, then an old version of PSE 4 to catalogue and any minor adjustments, clunky yes, but I was used to it.
My plan was to process all RAW's into JPEG's and store a complete 'history' on my NAS device (in addition to a mirrored time machine backup) for remote access to share with friends relatives when the need arises. If I went down the Aperture route would I be right in saying that because of the way that OS X deals with files that
1. I need never convert to JPEG because it will do it 'on the fly' when need be? and
2. This means that my plan is now flawed as any photo's stored on the NAS when accessed remotely by Windows ? wouldn't show properly without the computer having a RAW viewer and even then it would show a straight out of camera image rather than the amended OS X version?
Is there another way I don't know about or do I need to stick with adobe products ie LR or PSE 8
I'm not bothered about losing PSE catalogue as it was only very basic and would only take a view hours to redo properly.
BTW I'm only an enthusiastic amateur so none of this is business critical hahaha
