Hi everyone,
Apologies if this has been covered...
Not sure which one to get and just wanted some general good points, bad points. I'm leaning towards Aperture as I use a lot of Apple software like Final Cut and I find that pretty intuitive
Any thoughts, insights, advice would be great

Thanks
Phil

Nikon or Canon
Microsoft or Apple
Ford or Vauxhall

I think it's all just personal choice in the end. :)

I tired both in the early days, I went for Lightroom. It seamed to work better for me.

I've still got an early version, should really get around to upgrading.

Most people seam to talk about lightroom so I assume its the most popular.

I tried both and went for aperture, seemed so much better for me. DL trials for both, put a few shoots through both pieces of software and see which works overall. Both are good. Lightroom is considered more standard, but aperture is not available for PC, so that is the main reason, not because one is better than the other. Horses for courses.

Thanks for the replies, I'll download the trails..

The nuts and bolts of both are pretty much the same, but given the choice Id go for LR.

Lightroom seems so much more tidy and organised and tends to process quicker to.

I downloaded the Aperture trial today, and it does seem processor intensive
What's the printing functionality like in LR? It seems slightly clunky in aperture

I have both LR2 and Aperture and in the end, i opted for LR because it just seemed to have be a bit more intuitive in terms of the straightforward interface. RAM requirements seemed a bit lower with LR too - Aperture did err a lot under pressure, but that was with a MBP with only 2GB RAM.

Saying that, Aperture is very much like other Apple software as you say (especially in in the beauty stakes) - it had a distinct similarity to Logic Pro.

Can't help you with printing through LR - everything at work is done by someone else on PS

I'm going to give LR and wee go now, must admit not convinced about Aperture. If anyone has printing experience with LR could they post. Or is the workflow LR->PS for printing?

The main difference between printing in LR3 and Photoshop is that you cannot soft proof in LR3. Though I'm guessing if you took a poll only a small minority using PS soft proof before printing or even know what it is.;)
