Edit My Images
Yes
Hi all - I'm fairly new to photography and this forum and very new to editing.

I'm using Aperture to edit my photos and have noticed that a lot of people add copyright text in the bottom of their pictures.

How do I do this? I have had a quick look through the forum and people talk about using layers etc. however I have no idea what a layer is??

Can someone give me a basic idiots guide to doing this as I'm starting to upload pics to my Facebook site from Aperture, and think I should have some kind of copyright logo on them.

Thanks in advance all!

In Aperture.

Go to Aperture tab > Presets > Image Export

Bottom Right > Tick Show Watermark box > Add a watermark

The mark will be exported on the picture when you export to a folder.

Not sure if you have to export with watermark then re-import and then post to Facebook via Aperture to show the watermark

Or you could export the image and reopen it in Photoshop and add your logo in there and resave.

Hope this helps as Im no expert.

Phil

Thanks Phil - my follow up question is how do you create the watermark in the first place?

Also, and I think this is more of an Aperture usage question. I import my pictures into Aperture from my SD card, putting them into new projects within Aperture, then go to my Facebook page and upload them from there.

Is this the best option or should I do something else with them i.e export them to an external drive or another folder to mimic my folder structure within aperture (including the watermark) - Whats a good method or workflow to follow?

Thanks Phil - Had a play with this and happy enough with it. Just need some images good enough to warrant watermarking now!

danny,

All of my web uploads are exported to a temporary desktop folder. I upload at 800px, so export at that, then upload directly through the sites. Then I can be sure that what I'm sharing looks like I want it to and the websites are not resizing. It also means that pictures upload very quickly. I've found that linking my facebook account to aperture is a slow way to synch everything and I suspect it is the file sizes.

thanks
rick
