Hi all

I wonder if anyone who has the above type of windows has has had the window locks break/fail and replaced them (handles and/or the locking mechanism as well?

TIA for any insights ?

:)

Kind of.
We used to have alu windows that were not multi-point and currently have some UPVC versions of the same design. The handle literally holds the window shut and can be locked. I have a pair of sash jammers screwed to the frame top and bottom so the window cant be pulled out. I have replaced broken handles from spares taken off windows that have been replaced.

Do you mean aluminium frames or the older style Crittall steel framed windows?

@boogie man

Sorry I was not clear in my OP, though my title does say "double glazing" and Crittal AFAIK never made that ;)

So yes aluminium double glazed frames :)

I'm lucky to have a son-in-law that does double glazing for a living
He changed one of my handles and is going to change them all soon, it's not that difficult
only a couple of screws.
One things though, check the length of the bar and make sure you get the either the right or left handle,
locking mechanisms are part of the assembly
