Anyone using the Plustek 120 Scanner

I am in the market for a first time scanner and have been looking at the Plustek 120 scanner.........any tips recommendations advice would be much appreciated?

I'm probably too easily impressed, but the negative holders are more substantial than those of the Epson V700/800 series.

The Plustek scanner also extracts more detail/resolution from a 120 negative than the Epson V700, which isn't too much of a surprise. More, but perhaps not as much more as you might expect, and whether it's worthwhile might come down to how large you want to print.
 
Based on test reports you'd probably be better going with the Reflecta MF5000 (see http://filmscanner.info/en/ReflectaMF5000.html) or the Braun FS-120 (see http://filmscanner.info/en/BraunFS120.html) if you want to scan medium format like the Plustek Optifilm 120 does, which isn't reviewed as well in the image quality department as well as being slower and more expensive (see http://filmscanner.info/en/PlustekOpticFilm120.html). I use a Reflecta Proscan 7200 for my 35mm and it is of very high quality so I would happily recommend Reflecta products; the Reflecta and Braun are actually nearly identical in design and price, but the Braun seems to produce slightly higher quality results, at least according to the tests.
 
Well if cost is considered or very large enlargements are not needed...then the best Epson flatbeds in the series 3000 and 4000 can give good results from MF (if lucky can pick one up for £40 or less)....but don't know of anyone that is happy with the 120 holders though i.e. keeping the neg flat all over.

Well Brian, as the OP is asking about a £1400 scanner I doubt that the price difference between a car boot Epson 4000 and a brand new from the shop V800 would either interest or trouble him...
 
I have been giving serious consideration to the Reflecta MF5000, I use a Plustek 7600 for 35mm and have been pleased with the results. To be frank I would have gone for the Plustek 120 but have been put off by a number of the reviews. I am now pondering on the Braun!! Keep us posted Neil if you pull the trigger on a 120 scanner.

I'd say it's a good idea to avoid the Plustek 120: Filmscanner.de have actually stopped selling it as they say they've had so many returned or customers have had problems that they don't want to offer a product not fit for purpose.
 
Will it do all sizes of 120? I guess most people want it for 645, 66 or 69, but there are also the pano formats... guessing they won't be covered...

Not sure I have only used it for 120 and 135...........it did come with a bunch of other carriers
 
Yes it does all sizes from what i have read.
