Thinking of buying one, is it worth the upgrade from the X100s

I am currently looking at this camera as an upgrade from my Fuji XF1 but not sure how good it would be to capture group family shots, days out and capturing my young baby growing up. I just want a camera that offers great image quality in a small walkabout fashion.

Just got the X100T. I had the original X100 when it first came out but found it flawed and slow to use, particularly the manual focus which was rubbish. The X100 software was updated just as I sold it. I missed the form of the X100 however and when the "T" was announced an order was put it. It is all that the original should have been but for such a simple concept it is actually a fairly complex little camera and in truth I have yet to settle down with but its coming along nicely and we are getting used to each other, the ability to remap the function many (7) of the buttons and the Q menu is great for setting things up. It can be quick to use but also somewhat gimmicky and for example the wi-fi, whilst interesting, has yet to prove useful, similarly the GPS (using a link to a smartphone as far as I can determine and not built in) has yet to show its worth. Pictures though are coming out really well and I am gaining trust in it ability to do what I want. Manual focus is actually really well implemented and fun to use.

Can't compare it to the X100S but against the original X100 it is a massive improvement but I may need to fnd a decent book about it, when they appear, to get to the bottom of all it will do.

@Andy80F thanks for your input. I had also read petapixel.com/2014/12/14/casual-review-fujifilm-x100t/ which backs up your initial impressions. What sort of things are you shooting?

I have the T, never had the original or the S, I am very happy with it and its performance. Strangely I have never once thought" I want more zoom" the fixed focal length is just right. Probably the best thing for me is it's low light capabilities. not touched the FF Nikon since getting the 'T'

What sort of things are you shooting? Which FF are you comparing against? Would it suit family shots and a growing baby out and about? I leave my DSLR at home usually and take a Fuji XF1 when out but it can be hit and miss when indoors like at a restaurant or play date where can't always use a flash. I usually have to shoot at 25mm wide open to get anything semi decent with some noise.

I've got the original x100, I'm also thinking of getting this T upgrade. The concept of the camera is fantastic, apart from a few minor points, I'd have said the x100 is my perfect camera!

Two questions for T owners:

I always wanted to know is how well does face detect work? It's so frustrating to hand the camera to a passer-by and get a blurry photo back.

Also, does the hybrid part-EVF mostly-OVF thing work with auto-focus? eg, before pressing the shutter all the way, can I check autofocus by glancing at the EVF corner?

Hope OP don't mind me jumping in the thread. :$

I have a young family too and it's pretty good for this. I also visit many cities and the 'T' seems just about perfect for this too.
I also use a Nikon D610, Which I am very happy with but it's not always convenient when your'e pushing a push-chair and got two other kids to keep under control. As I said earlier the low light indoor performance is very good. I would say as good as the D610 with a 50 f1.8 and on another level compared to my sony rx100

Face detection works pretty well as does low light focussing. So much better than the X100. Used a Nikon SB-24 held at arms length and fired using a "poverty wizard".

the 100T is sounding good, luv my XE2 with the 23mm but it is a bit bulky.might trade it in after the new year.

I just bought an X100T. I nearly bought myself a used Leica M9 with a 35 f/2 but the Fuji X100T fits the bill a lot better. I previously owned an M9 and loved the usability of it, particularly the shutter speed and aperture dials which are nicely visible when you glance down at the top of the camera. But it's a fairly bulky thing compared to the X100T, and pricey at £3000 used for the body and lens.

So, I passed on the used Leica and wandered into the Classic Camera store in London and was captivated by the X100T (I only went in to have a browse). So I ended up with a silver one and it's lovely. I'm still getting to grips with the different config options, but with it's very usable viewfinder, visible aperture and shutter markings, and small size, it's going to be super I know. The auto-ISO setting is brilliant as well - Fuji seem to know what they are doing.

I have a Sony A7R with a few lenses as my full frame option, and the X100T is now my pocketable take-anywhere camera. And it's lovely to use - a similar experience to the Leica albeit with autofocus, nicely placed viewfinder, and the ability to set it up just how I want. Nice.
