I have decided to move from Aperture as it is not heading to a place I see it being competitive in photo editing.

I have Downloaded trials of LR4 & capture one and love the quality I am getting from Capture One.

Anyone using it? How does cataloging compare to LR in the longer?

Also how do you show areas of black? I have found clipping for the high end but not for the dark end.

You are not alone thinking image quality is better.;)

You need to go to Image > Prefrences and under the colour tab tick the "Enable Shadow Warning " box.

Capture One is not really a Dam program and is limited in its ability there, I use Media Pro in conjunction with it, I like to keep my DAm and raw convertors seperate and not be tied into one. But then again I have never considered LR a true Dam program even though I have it as well.:)

Media one pro might be worth looking into but not sure if that will hinder workflow? I need speed really and wonder if this will slow me?

Does it integrate seamlessly? Thanks for the tips btw? Anything else you find invaluable? Actually dodging and burning do I just do that with layers section?

Sorry for all the Q's but baby just been born and have v v limited time to play.

I don't want it to be a luxury for portraits only although the quality t gives would make me do this, as my portraits POP in a way I can't mimic.

Media Pro doesn't slow me down at all, I do all my editing, keywording etc, then select the finished files, control click them (on a mac with a single button trackpad, you would right click on a mouse) and select add to Media Pro.

Local adjustments on layers are great, you can do all sorts to a layer, eg exposure, saturation, clarity, contrast, colour changes, moire reduction, you name it. The spot removal tool is handy too.

Batch application of alterations is a real time saver, at a recent shoot I had 4 different rooms in which I took photos, I used Colorchecker Passport to take a grey point in each room, a few clicks later I'd applied the WB to each set.

Have a look on youtube, there are some really good tutorials.
