anyone shot a Naked Sports calendar?

Where to place your focal point? ;)

No, but I've looked at a few. Does that help.... ;)

Here's a link to a good one (too rude for family viewing) :0

I shot one a few years back...

had the whole mens' rugby team outside, middle of december... took one photo, and bam. Card filled up....

spare cards were a 3 minute sprint (and I assure you, I did) away!

Is it one sport or a mix? I've got one to do at somepoint.

Spend some time looking through other examples, there are loads out there. The toughest thing is proably avoiding the cheesy look! And there are plenty of examples of that!

Just be careful about group shots. It's rather too easy to communicate an unintended message if you don't keep an eye on body language, positions and facial expressions! :D

If you don't want any prawns, then shoot inside to avoid shrinkage!!!

Hi Dan.
Sounds like a fun project. Can't offer any advice, but I've been trying to convince my team to do something similar - post some of the finished shots, I'd be interested to see them.

We did one...many, many "moons" ago ;)

It was a very, very amateur affair though and shot in the changing rooms and clubhouse itself

My tip would just be to have a look around the web for inspiration, there are a lot of rugby ones done, I'd post some links for you but I'm at work and people might say something if they see my screen!!

Don't forget naked doesn't have to be naked. You can get flesh coloured modesty underwear for those who want to take part but may feel uncomfortable. Any bits of underwear then peeking can be easily shopped out

Would be easier to have more details of the different sports involved to be able to give you more ideas/tips

Did a calendar that had some nude pics in last year. First time I have shot naked (or in some cases, semi naked) people.

Find somewhere private.

Talk to people, explain what you want and are trying to achieve with each shot. Explain it will take time. Don't pressure anyone to do it if they don't want to.

Get lights etc set up with people mostly clothed. then the minimum number of shots sans clothing.

It was pro-bono as a fundraiser for a local club member who had suffered a freak accident and is now almost totally quadriplegic. If I was costing the time it would probably be a total of 30-40 hours. And a lot of thinking time.

It's actually the first time I had done anything like this, so having to come up with 13 different shots, work out how to light them, persuade people to take part and do it all on a very tight schedule with rather inclement weather conditions was quite challenging. The idea was first proposed at the start of October and all shots were completed over 6 weeks having to arrange around peoples work schedules etc.

October is the only famous person - Kevin Stewart in his commonwealth games kit and is a homage to the Chriss Hoy pic where he is standing on Mons Meg (though my pic isn't as good)

The other 'cover' is July, shot in a kitchen showroom as that was the only available private space that was large enough.

June is a multiple exposure with a whistle activated light stand[1]. It was about -3 when we were shooting that in late November.

[1] an assistant with a flash on a stick and remote trigger. I'd blow the whistle, trip the camera and she would fire the flash. It took a few goes to get the timing right and we were $%^*£% frozen by the end of it.

I appear on December as Santa. We dragged all the gear to the top of the hill on a sledge. The snow was in places thigh deep. The bike is wedged solidly in the ice.

September was shot in a local furniture makers showroom - one of the club members is a manager there so we could get in, shoot, and rearrange everything afterwards. The bike below the sheets was wrapped in plastic to avoid leaving oil stains.
