Yeah... uhh... any real reason?

There's a whole deluge of social networking apps and platforms, I use WhatsApp at the moment only out of convenience, but I'm going to wait around a bit to see what really settles down.
 
Live Profile is really good, I'm on that. Fring isn't bad either

Most people use blackberry messenger if they are on Blackberry or "Whatsapp" if they are on Iphone/Android.

Liveprofile is a new one and i think it will definately kill "whatsapp" and the reason being that it uses push technology. i.e. Whatsapp has to query the servers everytime to check for new messages whereas Liveprofile (just like the blackberry) sends you new messages as soon as they arrive on their servers thus saving a lot of battery time.

I have all three on my 2 phones but use bb messenger the most.

Bit harsh? I'm sure you added people on facebook but didn't know them

I use BB Messenger as well as WhatsApp. A couple of my mates have the Live Profile one but so far they're not impressed but maybe it needs time to settle in like all new apps

erm..... nope.... everyone of my "facebook friends" I know through real life or after "speaking" to them several times on various photography fora.....

Can honestly say, never accepted a request from someone i don't know, or have asked complete strangers to be my "virtual friend"

And I regularly cull......

Never saw the point in that, why add someone you don't know?

Unless having 10,000 fb friends covers up for the fact people have none in the real world!

Yep couldnt agree more, I only have people on my FB that I actually know :), now my wife, hmm thats a different story, it seems to be the in thing to have as many people as possible, its almost like a game it seems, she at least 400 the last time I looked, I dont bother bringing up the subject with her anymore :shake:

Hmm, I didn't know this - I was under the impression that WhatsApp used push messaging, it seemed like a perfect candidate for it.

But as I posted earlier, there's a lot of various platforms that come and go, so I'm just going to wait a bit to see what settles, as the % of people with smartphones gets ever higher.
