Anyone ordered Loxley Alumini?

I'm very interested in this as a standalone product. What does it feel like, how durable is it? Is it good alternative to framed prints?

And by chance - how do they compare with whitewall or another similar product?

More specifically - are colours accurate, any really problematic reflections in usual indoor environment, etc? They offer 4 versions - which is best? I am going to order a sample but I need to tick some boxes first. I doesn't need to impress me, but my potential customers.

Does the aluminium show through at all - or is it completely hidden beneath the image?

I bought a 30x20 from them that is proudly mounted in my living room. I love it, I think it's great. I opted for the high gloss version, You can't see any aluminum through the image, its just a very precise reproduction. I always have guests commenting on it saying they think it's like a painting.

Actually going to order a second to go directly underneath of a different shot from the same Holiday.

Ah, ok - so the aluminium just provides a very rigid (and very slim) backing. I like the look of those spacers on the back (to lift it off the wall).

I actually emailed them about it when I first ordered. There's the "standard" gloss and satin, then the brushed finishes bring some of the aluminum through. I believe it brings he highlights through, can't say 100%.

Anyway I am more than happy with my 30x20" piece, I was apprehensive at first given the cost but I'm chuffed. Obviously it goes without saying proof on paper before you order the finished version.

That does make sense - the aluminium does show through (in certain areas) with aluminium prints from some of the other suppliers

Surprisingly, Loxleys aluminium prints work out cheaper than their canvas prints (e.g. £20 cheaper for a 30x20"). Given the cost of aluminium sheet I'd have thought it would be the other way round.

Surprisingly, Loxleys aluminium prints work out cheaper than their canvas prints (e.g. £20 cheaper for a 30x20"). Given the cost of aluminium sheet I'd have thought it would be the other way round.

I could only guess canvas production is more labour intensive and puts the price up

As far as I know it's direct printing onto aluminium - not a glued-on print.

Usually the white/highlight areas. I don't know if there's a way of making the metal bleed through in non-white or specific textured areas.

The only drawback so far is the minimum size of 30x20" for 3:2 ratio images. I am sure customers will love that size but as a carry on sample it is a little big!

Sim labs have exactly the same range and prices... not sure which one is better

Whitewall are different, but it is dibond sandwich direct print either brushed or non-gloss finish in almost any size and slightly cheaper.... choices choices choices arrgh

They do 12x8 and 15x10. I believe 12x8 is the smallest 3:2.

I've noticed some neat Panoramic ones in ROES, might be tempted to produce something to go over the sofa with that. I've also noticed they've added a finish comparison to the website to show the brushed finishes off.

I see they have more options on website rather than printed catalog with pricelist. That's sorted then
