I read that story too. It made me think that while I always tell someone where I am going when I do a hill (it could be just a general indication but sometimes it is the details of the route) I have never had some contact info in my rucksack, until now.
I don't leave my rucksack to climb a hill off my main route but frequently put it down to have a short wander around.
A couple of years ago I was having a bite to eat on Stuc Coire an Laoigh. It is a small outlier on the south side of Beinn Eighe and a great viewpoint overlooking Glen Torridon. I put my rucksack down to eat and wander about. If I had slipped and fallen a note of personal info in my rucksack could have helped if someone had found it.
Hope they find the owner safe but it doesn't look good at the moment as it seems unlikely anyone would forget they had left their rucksack behind.
In another account of this incident the local MRT said this was not the first time this sort of thing had happened.
