A friend of mine asked if anyone knows this company
Here is acopy of the txt

I was wondering if you could help me please? My oldest daughter Laycie was accepted to go to London for a photo shoot for a place called (UKModels) x we have to give them 50pound deposit and they said they would give it bk to us when we get there. We have to pay for flights and accommodation. They said she will have a team of 5working with her and that they think she has great potential. Do you no anything about this place please?

Thanks in advance

I suspect you would be waving goodbye to your deposit.
And....a deposit for what, exactly?

How would you feel if someone sent your elderly relative mail saying "you've won a dream holiday villa, send us £100 for legal costs and we will transfer the property to your name".

???

You dont need a photo shoot to be a model. Go straight to an agency. They'll be con artists. Watchdog did a programme on one lot of them. Might still be on iplayer.

Sounds like a scam to me...

Wow thanks for the replys looks like there a photo studio looking for clients

Actually they sound like a bunch of thieving gits, with, I'm guessing, b****r all links to photography or being a model agency.

Yep big scam ,my daughter paid them over a grand for a set of photos of the grandson about 8 years ago , even after I warned her then it was a scam ,trouble is a mother wants there children to be rich and famous and simply will not listen to reason .
And as has been stated watch the watchdog clip thi was only two weeks ago

Many years ago, I ran a modelling advice website, basically this set out all of the scams that I knew about, but eventually pressure of work forced me to close it down, as it didn't generate any income for me.
What the public generally doesn't realise is that
1. Genuine modelling agencies don't advertise for new models
2. Modelling agencies don't require (or even accept) "Portfolio shots" - what they actually want is simple headshots that show the person's face as it really is, with no makeup and with absolutely no post processing. They do however need photos of any piercings or tattoos, as these can made a model suitable for some shoots and totally unsuitable for others.
3. If they accept someone as a model, the agency will then arrange a photoshoot in house, which (if they are genuine) they will not charge for. Over time, the content of the photoshoot gets replaced by actual shots from actual jobs, but they need something to start with.

As a photographer, I've frequently hired models from modelling websites, and the crappy photos of them on those sites are nearly always over-retouched and the person is often not even recognisable - which is why genuine agencies don't accept them.
