I bought a Minolta 500mm Mirror lens from this website about 8 months ago. Delivered as promised, condition as described, all good.

On 5th September I saw a Zeiess Bernotar polarising filter for my Contax RF cameras on their website.

Bought and paid on the website. Not arrived.

Repeated emails go unanswered 'phone number on the website just rings and rings - not answered and no answering machine.

Fortunately I paid by credit card so hopefully I can get my money back.

Does anyone here have experience of these people or their web shop?

Thanks.

I do believe that this company used to 'exist' on Camden High Street under a different name a few years ago. Trading Standards were involved somewhere along the line, so it may be the same company has upped sticks. The shop is certainly closed now although their company name was displayed on the shop front a long time after they left,
Years ago, before I became aware of their shenanigans I saw on their website that they had a particular lens I wanted (20mm/2.8 Minolta MD) I rang them up and asked about it's general condition and was abruptly told 'I don't have the F***ing time to deal with this call back', and the phone was replaced.
I have also read on another forum that they are basically honest, but are so disorganised and unbusiness-like they do upset a number of potential customers.

Do a search on the forum using the name MW Classic cameras and there is hardly a good word for them

The infamous shop opposite Mornington Crescent, the name began with a N ?

From memory of working in the London photo retail / wholesale trade in the 90's , I don't think that they were connected to M W Classic but I could be wrong it was a long time ago.

Thank you for your replies. It seems that people either have a good experience with them or (much more likely) appalling.

I appear to have had both.

Time to try for a refund I think and, in future, more research into vendors before I click on the button.

Just to update this with a more recent experience.

Ordered an item last week, money taken. Nothing arrived as yet. Emailed yesterday to ask about status of it. No reply.

Should have bought via ebay as now their protection is probably far better than normal website is as far as buyers are concerned. The person running it is busy adding new stock but not pulling their finger out and sending out previous orders

Didn't realise you have to wait a sodding month for Mastercard purchases before you can raise a dispute. Visa is 15 days.

I'm £40 down on a purchase that never arrived.

They used to be one of my favourite dealers but I think that the original partners have departed and whoever is now in charge sppears to be incompetent or untrustworthy. I made a claim against my card but nothing appears to be happening.

It seems to take forever. Paypal is far better in this regard. The few times I've had to use that I've got my money back much more quickly.

Phew,

I was just about to order two lenses from these guys, tried to ring to make general inquiries and both numbers no answer.

I thought "I'll just check on TP"

Thank goodness, dodged a headache there I think.

Last two truetpilot ones are essentially the same as I had. Ordered and got nothing with no communication from the sender.

EBay is more mixed. Lots of reviews with the same title. If that's not an eBay pre filled choice then I'd be suspicious of those.
