Anyone in York?

I think a league club should pay... Buy saying that.. great opportunity that needs grabbing.. someone will be well in with that.. being aclub photogrpaher can open other doors..

Do you think smaller clubs will go this way Tony ? Ie volunteer basis.

If people will do it then yes.. theres three of them at Accrington Stanley. I stopped being the official photographer a few years ago and they advertised.. got a few people asking.. ended up with three of them....

I know league 2 clubs that pay and them that dont.. some do it for the love of the club and some do it.. well I dunno why..

Is it just another example of individuals that like the kudos of being a club photographer. Lol

Thats true if you ahve no interest in the club.. but if your a big fan of the club then wow..

Also in the world of sports photogrpahy its a bigger stepping stone than a lot of other ways....

Great opportunity I think..

Just to reitterate.. I still do think its a great opportunity for someone in that area who either already a fan or has a genuine interest ..to get there foot in the door... I would be suprised if you took it tug as your foots already in the door.. probably a step backwards.. surely you can demand a fee not give em away?

sorry just my genuine thoughts..

Nothing to hide here guys

The reason I asked the question was the fact that I was told that they were assessing another tog next week and I wondered if it was someone off TP.

To be honest the images that they selected were not the ones I would have put up on the site but Hey Ho.

I really enjoyed the evening shooting to spec and would probably enjoy doing it full time. Its just the pay and expenses that would have to be right.

The new kit certainly worked well. The lighting was quite good untill the last 25 minutes and then I was only up at ISO6400 1/800 at 2.8.

I only had my old laptop which had LR3 on it...lol sloooooooowww !

Three images used and they were not given away. 2 on web and one a PR presentation shot after the game.

I think its a relationship that could blossom with the right direction.

As they where asking for a voulanteer for no pay.. then your pics appear on there site.. 2+2 I for one just presumed you did it for free..

I covered my costs and made it clear that it had to be that way. I would not have done it otherwise. Im sure they will get someone who is a fan to do it for nothing but I dont think think a working tog would make it a profitable position. Not just from the sale and usage. They do not operate at the level to justify the cost just yet.

the one thing that should be pointed out t (just in case anyone is reading and thinking of applying?) any club photogpaher operating for the club ... they cant do anything wiht the pictures bar give them to the club.. they cant sell them anywhere..papers or anything.. they have to hand them all to the club and the club hold the copyright..

beat me too it by a short head.

I
Cant blame the club or trying to get freebies but to say they're not in a position to pay isnt right, they've done it regularly in the past, theyr'e just looking to take the mickey and someone called Mickey will be along shortly if he already hasn't

I didnt know they had already paid someone to take pics?

Sometimes I wish I didnt even bother joining in threads like this... 20 posts later you find a snippet of info that changes your whole view :(

Its just another string to the bow so to speak, it may open other doors, but as long as Im not out of pocket, it will be good experience in the footballing togging environment.

How did you progress then Tony, You must have started the Club photographer way at AS ? What way did you get the necessary publications to proceed as you have ?

It was unibond league... no licence system ..

Lucky lad, it really is a closed shop now. those that have licences/Accreditations are very lucky.

so why dont you go out and get a licence.. i and many others proved it can be done.. lots of time and effort ...but you can get one..

Im going to do just that Tony. Its my objective for the season.

Just an update on the York position, I covered a couple of games for York for which I was paid for expenses only.

Subsequently I received a phone call stating that they could no longer pay expenses as it would set a precedence for all their other club photographers. As a result, I have parted company and am now working towards gaining my own license.

I had some great advice from a TP regular on this subject and realised that this was the best course of action.

Tug!
do you know local blue square league teams?, would they be willing to sponsor you?,
I will admit I am in a bit better position thay you given the nature of my livelyhood, but I have to apply just the same!, I haven't covered much Conference league work this past 2years but know it's essential to keep avenues open! so have renewed mine!.
Do you have a name/address etc to apply to?, PM me an addy & I can forward you the application form etc if I can dig it out of my documents :).
I would first try & see if your services are of any use to local teams?, but, an application can only be turned down after all:shrug:, and if it is!, contact them and ask why?. PLI insurance documents must be added to any application! (minimum 2,000,000) I believe. Kind regards Graham.

Same thing Graham. I did two fa cup matches at conference grounds last seaosn.. but still re aplied this season.. never missed in 10+ years :) This was an early one of mine ..didnt even have any names on them.

I spoke to the lady at the conference and found out all the details. I have PL insurance already for the other sport I cover (5m).

In reality, the fact that the club didnt want to break their non pay structure for their togs has done me a favour as other avenues were jeopardised by me covering their games.

Thank you for the direction Graham, it was pretty much what I was advised by another TP'er.

Ive got the bit between my teeth now so i'll just put everthing I can into it.
