Hi,

is anyone here printing from aperture and being able to print what they say on screen.

If so what paper and what printer are you using and what colour profile on the print setting within Aperture are you using? System Manage or ????

Cheers

That is a big can of worms you are opening. I am printing from aperture however I am just about to invest in a £350 calibration device for the monitor and printer, this is the only way I can be sure to print what I see.

At the moment I am calibrating the monitor and having to adjust the black point in the print dialog box to get a close representation.

Unless you calibrate everything you will always be struggling I guess.

I dont use aperture, I use photoshop I always change my view to RGB and let photoshop manage the colour management, profile is set to simulate the printer, printer settings set to no colour management, as long as you screen is calibrated you should get what you see

Could you let me know how you get on and what paper and printer your using. Also what colour setting your using within aperture? I am using system manage and it seem to be well off from what i see on screen and my screen is calibrated and i have had things printed from online print and they come back how i see it on screen. so I know it down to my printer. Is there where your adding black to it? As it does make sense..

Cheers

What photo paper you use on what printer. As I have a feeling it down to photo paper too.

But I have run out now so I cant do anymore testing ha ha

yep it is down to the paper also, that also needs to be set, I usually use high gloss, superior quality, check the paper you using and adjust the settings to that, eg if it says the paper is premium then use the superior quality settings, and so on, obviously this doesnt apply paper that you bought from you local pound shop,eg 20 sheets for a quid, that varies considerably for each manufacturer

my printer is epson C60 and Xerox high gloss old I know but trustworthy

I am using a HP Photosmart C5280 and HP Premier papers.

The stuff I send off to print normally comes back spot on as well, but I have troubles with the HP some times... But it is only a cheap printer and you get what you pay for, I have on order and just waiting shipping a new A3+ coming. Hopefully that will be a little better.

So how would you advise me to get my aperture up to scratch with my canon printer without spending toooooo much dosh

Cheers

What are the problems your are seeing when you look at the print on screen and in your hand.

Is it colours not right, contrast, brightness. you will first have to identify the issue. With mine they were darker so all I had to do was several prints changing the black point until I had resolved the issue.

That is the way forward but first you will need to identify the issue. I take it you are using original ink and not refills. I do not know if that is a factor.

The image that is printed seem to be more bluey or a tint of purple compare to what on screen. It should be grey and white type
