Anyone heard of SIFGP ?? Are they legit?

Has anyone heard of The Society of International Fashion and Glamour Photographers SIFGP?
The website hints at formal accreditation, are they legit? Does being a member mean anything?

It costs £10 per month to be a member but I dont see any kind of vetting process.

There are also associated ones (wedding, nature etc etc etc)

The vetting process is "does the cheque cash?"

If you want nonsense to put on your business card I am sure these people can help you.... for a fee of course.

No doubt free of charge they will also send you a stream of "amazing offers" from relevant businesses.

This thread has the potential to degenerate into a polarised discussion on, 'why these societies are great and helped grow my business' vs 'nope.. it's a load of worthless codswallop save your money'.

As you may have noticed, the SIFGP are the same crew as the SWPP.

All I will say is that for me, I couldn't stomach the vetting process as described very nicely by Desantnik.

I have saved my money and forged my own path based on the quality (or not), of my portfolio.

H Bevy. This thread has a fun opinion, mine is their also.


What would be a good vetting process anyway? I tend to judge a good photographer as someone who, in any conditions thrown at them can consistently produce good photographs, as in, good exposures and compositions. ..and if the conditions are good, a few stunners thrown in. That would be my basic recommend criteria.
