I haven't personally had experience with those, BUT

I am a believer that cheap kit has a very valid place. I know there are some people who decry if you want to buy cheap and cheerful, and suggest that only L and pro class is the only way to go, but I don't buy into that theory.

Just look at some of the shots that people have been getting with the Holga £20 cameras from eBay.

The phrase "You get what you pay for" is very apt here.

From what I know these lenses are good enough but not "L" quality.
Quite a lot fo the Russian stuff is up in the to 70% but fails in build/AF/...

You might get lucky, but then again you might want to give your Card to the local Tramp.

I own a Russian 1000mm mirror lens, it's soft as a very soft thing gone very soft in a soft kind of way.

Makes a half decent telescope mind you with the appropriate adaptor on it.

I agree with everything here apart from the build aspect, pretty much everything Russian made is built like brick outhouse, almost like it's hewn from a solid block of metal  in that respect the build is good but then again it doesn't have tarty things like damped focus rings which is the other side of build that lets it down.

Think of Russian lenses as an AK-47, it's not the most accurate (or sharp) but it's built like a tank and will last forever even if you don't look after them :)
