Why is UKTV G2, now called "Dave" ?

UKTV G2 is to be relaunched as Dave next month, focusing on a younger male audience.

Launching on October 15, Dave will be a comedy and factual entertainment channel and will be available on satellite, cable and - as we exclusively revealed last month - Freeview, replacing UKTV Bright Ideas on channel 19.

The name is based on the idea that "everyone knows a bloke called Dave". Marketing activity to launch Dave will begin on October 1

Everyone knows a Dave, he's the man down the pub you can have a pint and a laugh with.

In fact, he's probably sleeping with your sister and/or mum.
 
Kids these days arent called Dave! Dave is in his forties!!!

That wont attract a younger audience.......it would have to be called Nathan, or Jordan!!

I thought they were doing a only fools and horses tribute, that one name kept people laughing from the first episode to the last..

I thought my other half (aptly named Dave - and he's not in his 40's either ;) ) had been messing about with the channels :lol:
 
According to internal statistics of Orange Customer's and thats in the millions here, Dave is the most common name :)

:agree: Whatever next? All the channels being re-named Sharon, Tracy, Kev, Betty etc??? :cuckoo: Makes me less likely to watch a channel called Dave. Sounds like a blokes channel for motoring etc.
 
Ah, but they did air the Psirens episode of Red Dwarf last night. The one with that epic line:
