Like the original ipad I though it was pointless. Then, like the orginal ipad I had a play and was sold on one after a few mins!!!

Have an iPad 1 which the wife and kids use a lot, me too. Tempted by the mini as it would be nice to have one while the other is being used and it could be for adults only so no marks!! Love the look and feel, but appreciate any real life experience... is it as good to use as the ipad over a period of time?

I'ts far better than the ipad 1, Faster, as a camera. better chip, loads better get one m8

Very tempted by one. Like you, when they were first advertised I thought utterly pointless. Then I had a play with one and they are just so much nicer in the hand than the full sized tablets, and the smaller screen is in no way too small.

The thing that really bugs me though is that they've not put a retina display in it. The display is available in all sizes in the Apple range now and you just no that the ONLY reason they have left it out of the mini is so that next years update can say "now with amazing retina display".

I have one. I think it is great. It's paperback book sized so I find it ideal. Screen quality could be better but you get used to it and compared to many devices it is really good.

With retina display it would be a lot more expensive. There will be mini 2 out I'm sure. There always a new version of anything out in an annoyingly short space of time.

I've not really spent much time with ipads. Never owned one. Had a laptop so didn't have the need until the laptop went wonky. Then I thought I could either spend a fortune on a laptop (£1200 ish inc apple care) or a third of that on a mini and have something I could actually leave the house without feeling like a pack animal. Macbook that's dead hasn't even made it to 5 years old so I'm loathed to spend another grand on something that will last so little time.

Asus are doing some dinky cheapo laptops for about £250. Looking at one of those if I really, really, really find I can't live without a laptop.

Never really been interested in a iPad or seen the point as I have a mac book and a smart phone.
But about 3 weeks ago as we were leaving china to return to the uk,friends of my wife's family gave me and the wife a iPod mini each. They supposedly bought 4,she used to be an air hostess,so presume they were bought by here friends as they were uk models and given to her.
They weren't available in china or the USA from what I was told speaking to a spanish guy after he saw it in the airport, only the UK.

Ive found it great to use and fast enough for what I use it for, surfing and watching videos.
Ive never used a full size iPad so cant compare.Would I have bought it my self...probably not.
The only downside is its just a 16gb wifi version, but I cant realy complain as I never payed for it.

My iPad mini arrived just over a week ago (I have had every version of full sized iPad since the day the original one was launched), having an iPad retina at the moment, with the exception of the screen size and weight of the device for reading books - I wasn't that fussed, so I gave it to my wife.

She loves the handbag friendly size and also the mini is better for her sitting on the sofa as she always thought the full sized iPad was heavy.

I have pinched it back to read on a couple times, using iBooks or the kindle app and am so impressed have now ordered myself another one

I will leave the full sized one exclusively by the sofa for web surfing and the mini will be used in bed for reading and taken out of the house in place of the full sized one.
