Me and the family are seriously considering a move to Canada. My wifes a highly skilled nurse (and I'm quite good at DIY :lol:)

England has nothing to offer us anymore and were struggling to make ends meet, both in terms of money and our relationship. We feel we might be better off making a brand new start in another country while our kids are still young, they're 2 and 4 years old.

Can anyone offer any advise on where to start;

Whats the cost of living like ?

What is the standard of education like ?

Can I expect a better life than the one I have here in England (I realise that can't be hard ;))

Any help is appreciated !!

I think Minimeeze is looking to move to Canada in the next year..it might be worth getting in touch with her? I'm sure she wouldnt mind :)
 
Mindcrime and Jewel both live in Canada (Toronto iirc). I am emigrating to Canada later this year to BC (hopefully). British expats is definitely a fantastic place to look, especially the Wiki section. Your wife should have no problem getting a job there as they are crying out for skilled health professionals, and depending on which part of Canada you are considering, you can get there super quick via the provincial nominee program (PNP), where basically you are sponsored out there by an employer, but the emigration process can take as little as 6 months, compared with the normal 2-5 years.
However, your wife will be required to sit the Canadian nursing exam as her UK qualification will not be recognised. Again, look on the British expats forum - they have a whole section dedicated to nursing!
