I found the lighting one really basic, and lacking depth. The business one seems to be lacking in reality.. that is the reality of most photographers is that they dont have a tribe of people following them, and they do have limited resources in time and money. esp. when it comes to the social media aspects.
The issue with some of the current "Woodstock Generation" is that they made hay, and made their money and reputation, when things apparently just unfolded at their feet for them. The reality of the current photography start up is similar to mine - my local competition have websites with 1500 - 2000 in-links, they charge cheap as chips prices, and they are not that good. so while you go through the "building up your following / reputation phase" he doesn't. fill in the vital gap that eludes many start ups "how do you earn a living". Thats my beef with a lot of these "inspirational business tutorials" . They can go on about phrases like "if you think you can do it you can" or "what ever you believe can happen will", but being inspirational doesn't put food on the table
To be fair to the guy, he did elude to needing a business plan
The continuous lighting part really showed the shortcomings of continuous lighting, and for me, a softbox isnt everything
On the plus side, the way he dealt with his staff, and the model, was perfect, and a lot of photographers could learn from that
