How did I ever live with a 4Mb down 700k up ADSL link.

Now got 32Mb down and 7Mb up.

Just thought I should mention :)

Surfing is soooooo much faster.

Loving it.

I live in the sticks, 700kbps down 300 up

I'd kill for 4mb

Feel sorry for you. My god I could not cope with them speeds. Esp, as I work from home, and on the VPN all the time.

I have recently moved back to BT Infinity after being with TalkTalk for 11 years. I am 7km from the exchange and could only get 2meg download. Talktalk said they could only guarantee me 1/2 meg so would not even consider any further checks. The Fibre cabinet is approx 100m from my house and I now get 37-38meg down and 8-9meg up. It is now a joy to use and will easily stream HD movies while other people are browsing / streaming video.

Good move to get away from talk talk. I was with tiscali for two years. When talk talk bought them, my connection speed decreased. They did nothing to fix it or explain why I had to live with the decrease so I left and went to virgin. So much better. Of course tt overcharged me for an extra month and it was a huge job to get my refund. 38mbs must be amazing.

I get 23MB/s down 1.1Mb/s up fromm O2/BE* Broadband, have consistently had this speed for a few years now, however I would probably be the first to jump ship if FTTC came anywhere near me ;)

Lets hope the plan is to roll out FTTC all over. I have seen details that it could potentiality support 100Mb. But its all new at the moment, so will have to see how things go and just enjoy what I have now :)

Strange thing is, I can download stuff faster at home than when I go to the office. haha

I get 4.06mb/s down and 0.46mb/s up. Not bad in this area in Spain when virtually no one else in my area has managed to get a phone line, let alone broadband. When the engineer came he told me I was on a rural line, so could expect max of 1mb/s.

I was pleasantly surprised, but don't see too many advances coming my way!!

50mb here :) (Virgin Media Cable BB)

Rubs hands

MB

I wish I lived in a cabled area, only BT cable in the ground, nothing else, so forced with the ADSL, and now vDSL

On the plus side, what I have is paid for by the company so not all bad :)

Oh my god. How can you cope with that.

When I first went online at home it was 14.4kbps. I had ISDN put in and at 64kpbs it was awesome!

I've just moved house from a BT 20CN exchange where I got a sync speed of the full 8192/448 to an area with Be in the exchange and now get a sync speed of ~3600/~900, as instead of 1/2 mile from the exchange I'm more like two miles. It's still fast enough and the extra upload speed is excellent.
