Yes
I left BT Broadband nearly two years ago to join Sky Broadband but kept my main BT email address active as it was the one linked with my Flickr Pro account which was included in the BT deal.
Yesterday I got an email from BT / Yahoo saying that my email account had expired and that I would need to upgrade to BT Premium Mail so I did in the hope that I could keep my Flickr Pro. After upgrading I got another email from BT/Yahoo saying I recieved that email by mistake and my account wouldn't be expiring.
This morning I logged into Flickr to discover my account had been downgraded to a basic free acount. To save any future hassle I just paid to upgrade to Pro.
Did this happen to anyone else?

Paul

If you leave BT you loose the pro account.

Just checked and it says under account settings that:-

You have a Pro account, at no cost as long as you keep your BT Yahoo! service.

Yeah. All BT customers get a Flickr Pro account free.

Really? I didn't know that and can't find any mention of it on BT's website. Would be good if it was although I've already paid for this year:bang:

Didn't realise that you get a pro account with BT Broadband, will investigate that now thanks

Yeah, you defo do. I didn't realise either, when I signed up to Flickr. Within 24hrs my account had been upgraded, and I didn't even use my BT email address to sign up with. I was on the verge of buying the pro account, when I noticed my pro tag after my name. Had me a bit baffled for a while. :D

Sure is true, just make sure you use your main BT Yahoo email address on the log in page.

I was using an original yahoo email id, just changed it and all is well now with a Flickr pro account.

Thanks very much for bringing this up, would never have known otherwise

Well like I say, I didn't even use my BT email address. Used my .mac one, and it still worked. No idea how it linked it to me, but it did add a btopenworld address into my account, but I defo didn't add that 'cos I would have use btinternet rather than btopenworld.

 :D

That's odd, I don't have a BT Yahoo address, mine is a BTinternet address, could that be the reason?

If you've got BT broadband, then you get your free flickr pro account. As I've now tried to stress in 2 posts, the email address is irrelevant. But your btinternet address WILL do the trick. I don't have a btyahoo (if they exist) address either. I've been with BT since long before Yahoo came along.

Time to own up here, but I work for BT and never knew about this

Even more of a bargain as I get my BT Broadband for £1 a year (given this instead of our annual free share allocation)

My turn to help you out now, so this might be of interest

Apparently sub accounts of the primary BT account also get a pro account, so if
family members want a photo gallery etc, give them a sub account under your
BT account.

Interesting to know you do definitely lose it if you leave as I had been wondering...

The free Flickr is about the only thing that's keeping me with BT if I'm honest

You can do a hell of a lot worse than BT. Customer service is utter trash, but actual product works very well.

OK I get that I don't need to use my BT email for it to work but I've had a flickr account since 2006 and have paid for a Pro account for the last 2 years. I have been with BT Broadband since 2004 but my Flickr account has never automatically upgraded and I've never seen any reference on the BT website for free Flickr pro account.

So how do I get it for free?

I went into "my account" and clicked on use a different yahoo ID for this account.

Put in my primary @btinternet email and that worked fine, guessing a @BTopenworld email would also do the trick

Didn't like my usual @yahoo.co.uk though

Surprised BT don't use this as a marketing tool, might be a good incentive to anyone looking to change or order from a broadband supplier

Indeed, was just about to mention the Yahoo ID option in account settings. It gives you the option to link things up there.

Never realised either, just upgraded to a pro account free of charge and at no hassle! many thanks.
