Yes
I got one of these recently. They are really good for one pot meals but the recipes I find are mostly American. I've done the standard beef casserole and sausage casserole with the automatic meat settings. Both turned out well. Rice comes out very well.

I'm looking for interesting recipes that don't involve at lot of putting things in the pot and taking them out again to put them back. The kind that just mean whacking everything into the pot in one go and setting it to cook are the ideal ones. Ones where you saute some of it first then add the rest of the ingredients to the pot itself are also good.

Ideally not chilli as I don't really like that either!

Also a lot of them mention using flour which is a specific no no in the instructions.

I've spent a while googling for recipes and the same ones seem to be repeated everywhere.

Might be worth looking for old fashioned pressure cooker recipes and adapting them.

That's what many of the recipes are. They aren't suitable or they're totally unappealing.

I wonder how many of the electric pressure cookers now live in lofts or the back of kitchen cupboards? Since we eat a fair amount of pulses and the like, I think one of those things might make sense for us but Mrs Nod had a bad experience with a pressure cooker so I have to cook in "real time"!

The instant pot is a lot better than a hob top pressure cooker. The quick pressure release is a nightmare though. I'd only leave it on the keep warm setting and wait for the pressure to drop. I got scalded both times I tried to do the quick release and that is with dropping a tea towel over the steam release so it didn't go everywhere. It still managed to do a jet of water 12 inches long and get my arm after I poked the pressure release valve with a spatula so I didn't have my hand anywhere near it!

If you leave it on the keep warm setting til the wotsit pops up it's loads better. It does rice well. Stews well. You can do a delay timer so that you can set it to start up to several hours in the future and the keep warm is ok for up to 10 hours.

Finally found one recipe that wasn't previously working from the instant pot site: https://www.everynookandcranny.net/instant-pot-coconut-dal/

I had a slow cooker as well but that was terrible. Everything was tasteless. This is at least making genuinely tasty food when I can find recipes to do in it.

Funny how preferences differ. I wouldn't trade in my slow cooker for anything. It's all in the seasoning. :-)

I love my slow cooker - and as I'm only cooking for one - I usually eat one tasty portion and freeze the rest in single portion sizes.

You need to be careful with seasoning and also be careful to check the stock level as it's cooking. You don't want the meat swimming

Not used the new style pressure cooker but I do a beef stew in our slow cooker that's really easy to make and tastes great. Brown some stewing beef, add to the pot together with potatoes, chopped onions, carrots, parsnips and swede. Add a bottle of beer (a dark one works best, but anything is ok), an oxo cube and some tomato purée. Top up with enough water to cover all the ingredients, if necessary. Season to taste and add whatever herbs you like. Leave to cook on the low setting all day. Add some dumplings half an hour before serving.
