i downloaded the update some time ago, but i have not updated my canon 350d as yet. Has anyone made this update, and was is it easy to do? I have also read that you should take off the lens too, is this right?

Yes you should take off the lens, no controls must be operated during the update and this includes auto focus.

I would strongly advise you print the instructions off that come with it and follow them to the letter.

I carried out the last update and the one before with no problems.
The latest one for the 350 is supposed to fix the 'jumping' when scrolling through shot images but it didn't fix it!

thanks bachs, is it really worth bothering with??

@steve
it is the version 3 update from canon.

I upgraded from v1.0.1. 1.0.2 to 1.0.3

I haven't noticed diddly squat difference in any of the upgrades.

hi steve
yes its a frmware update, but dont know if its worth it, by the sounds of it.

With firmware, Im taking the view that unless a particular firmware upgrade offers me something I really want, then I'm not going to bother.

If it aint broke....and all that.

from a software engineer's perspective, updates are always better. if it ain't broke, it means the software hasn't gotten itself into a nasty situation yet, but sooner or later.... it will. :P Then again, updates will still contain bugs anyway. *shrug*
