Perhaps not the best example (I was quite early on in teaching myself film photography and quickly realised that star trail photography was not as easy as the magazine article made out, especially using film instead of digital!), but this is 35mm Velvia 50 exposed for ~50 minutes using a 28mm lens at f4, and a locking cable release:
I have done some colour correction on the scan to try to reduce the green cast Velvia 50 gives for exposures longer than 4 seconds, but this is pretty much how the original slide looks. I've never really managed to get around to doing anymore similar pictures (un)fortunately!
