As above, I'm looking to take a day and photograph an aspect of Leeds, on the hour, every hour for 24 hours.

Ideas are no problems, technical side is not an issue, endurance....maybe an issue.

Why am I doing it? Good question:D feel the need to push myself to think hard about interesting subject matter and technical ideas.

I'll likely start at 10am after dropping my daughter at school and photograph until 9am.

I'll be searching out wifi areas, taking my laptop and, where possible uploading as I go.

Anyone seen anything like this done before? I did a search but found nothing.

Cheers.

and Why not take part in our annual TP Day coming up soon 9th September, Where you take a photo on that day and post it on the forum, then all the Photos are made into a slideshow, Click the logo for more details, it's lots of fun to be a part of it:thumbs:

Hi Andy, great idea, but 24 hours would take yo to 9 am the following day, not to 9 pm.

Andy. This is a brilliant concept...ok...factors against me..old laptop...needs constant power supply... Free wifi ... Few places round here.... Something strong enough to keep me awake ..and plenty of it... SO!! This in mind I'll be focusing my efforts round the golden arches.....

But Andy....how about a photo48 or even stretch yourself to a photo72 .... Oh my... By Monday morning id be frazzled ??!!

Hi Andy and Mark,
Maths is not my great subject either but surely 24 hours would take you from 10.00am to 10.00am the following day :bonk::bonk:

surely you take your first @ 10am... then 23 on the hour after that takes you to your last @ 9am the next day..?

andy ..how would you cope with the night time shots as a series of light trails and light writing (i've seen the sorts of words you write) .. and ... wire wool i guess.?? and light painting... and ..ok..there's some things to keep you occupied..

When are you planning to do this?

Good question. Might schedule a night next week to produce a little POA.

Plenty to photograph in Leeds, but I want to think whether I want to stick to one genre (abstract, for example) or a broader subject matter.

Photo72, now you could do this, but us mere mortals.:D

See below....I'll be looking to take photographs on the hour from 10am and including 9am the following day = 24 photographs

Anyway, I'll keep you'll posted.

You might have a point there Andy..... And come the day time... I do have to crack out the spf 500 ...

andy. have you progress any thoughts about doing this..?

I have. I keep between using Leeds as my topic or a road trip from Leeds to Redcar....

Think I'll go for Leeds. Now, the when....? Busy this weekend, so I might book Friday 21 September.

I'll mention the idea to Jackie and gauge her response.

I keep thinking, physically, this is going to be hard; but if I finish It'll be worth it

Cheers.

Is it key that you publish the photo. Or just that you take the photo every hour.. As I'm thinking id trial it next Saturday...

I've been giving it some thought and I could quite easily (:nono:) use free wifi to upload on the go and if there were a lot of people watching me doing so...live, then I would; but I might just take the photographs and upload 24 separate photographs to a thread I'll start the night before. I might upload a few cameraphone photographs of something I have photographed with my camera and upload them on the go.

I'll keep an eye out for your photographs..keep me posted.

Cheers.

I was thinking the later. Take 24 then upload en batch. Processing in the field might prove hazardous....

Depending on how yours goes. Would you consider a 48 or 72... Or is that too much to think about right now.... Or maybe I'm just stark starring mad for even considering now sleep for three days???

Photo72.... Liking the idea. Could I manage physically...... ;)

Started my plan. Have Google map set up. 24 hour spreadsheet with details being added as I type.

Cheers.

Its the mental aspect that would worry me. I couldn't drive obviously so the plan would be around my locale.. But it would need to be a varied area. Although I'm thinking of including product shots and the obvious light trails so the cold air should keep me awake...

Are you limiting yourself to outside shots?

For night shots would you shoot indoors in public or other places?

I've seen what Andy does outdoors in public places...least his spelling was good.. :D

Well, I'm on the naughty step with Jackie, blooming people making me buy tech!, so, although I've had the day off I was unable to do my Photo24.

I have a Google map set up and I'm planning the shoot, it's been parked for now.

Thanks for the support everyone.

Cheers.

The dust might settle soon here so here's hoping I can get out :D

Looking forward to seeing the results. Photo 48.....holy crap, über hard core

Andy et al,

just thought i'd leave a few thoughts about this challenge...

1) be prepared. sleep before hand, i didn't and had to rely on some subtle/extreme methods to stay awake...processing was the worst time and the last hour was HELL..

2) if you're staying close to home, be prepared for mess (unless you are the cleaning up type). By the end rooms were left upside down with flashes left set up and props unmoved...glad i had sunday

3) be prepared to change your idea when it isn't working for you. you don't have much time. some hours i didnt have an idea so scratching around lost me ...

4) the day disappears....seriously. seems forever to begin with. But after the half way, it becomes clear how easily each hour slips away. And by the end, i was literally fighting sleep, losing precious minutes whilst processing.

this are but a few that come to mind.....after i managed to get some sleep on the sofa...

Just been out to take photo 1/24.... Thread to follow!! Thanks for the inspiration
