I'm just looking for a good, reliable cleaning machine or two to start a bit of this up on the side and looking to some recommendations

My dad did - wrote a book on it too!!

This company set used gear too and AFAIK they are pretty good to deal with. There are dry cleaning machines but hot water extraction is I believe the better one.

i sold kirby's in 1984 and still have my demo model...and the rug renovator kit to do carpets
its a wet type process....foam actually...and after it dries there is a special brush to bring up the pile
expensive i know!!
my daughter hires the ones you get in supermarkets..vax
hope that helps...
ps the kirby is not a carpet cleaner but part of a versatile system based on an industrial motor on wheels
oh! you DONT want to buy one....same..:p

This one for carpets and three piece sofa type furniture

Kercher Puzzi

The long handle is for carpets and the short handle is for furniture and car interiors etc
