Anyone been on the roof of the O2 arena?

Next Monday I've got a team event with work, starting off at the Skype office in London.
We're following it up with a climb up the roof of the O2 arena - see http://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/dome-with-a-view-o2-roof-walk-opens-7872711.html
Has anyone done this? It sounds like a great opportunity for pics - I think I'm ok taking my camera gear up but I'll be travelling light. Was planning on my 650D plus 10-22 mounted on the camera, with the 17-55 in the bag as backup. I'm guessing opportunities for changing lenses etc whilst up there are going to be limited given I'm scared of heights ;-) although I was going to take a flash and remote trigger just in case I need some fill-in.

Would be good to hear if anyone's been up and taken pictures...?

Not personally but I know a man that has :D regrettable I cannot say what lens he used while up there, those lens seem sensible, though I'm not sure on taking a flash and trigger up there, what exactly are you planning to get photos of that would need flash, for just a little fill flash on camera should be adequate not really sure you'd need a trigger (OCF) or that it would be particularly practical either
 
Reading the FAQs it looks like they only let you take a mobile phone FFS. I'll ring them tomorrow and check but I may end up stuffing the little XF1 in my pockets...
Once you're up there at the top it's a completely safe, flat plateau with great views so I was thinking of getting some team shots with a bit of assisted light..!

They don't allow cameras up there.
 
Argh! That's a wasted opportunity! Anyone been up? If I happened to forget about a little pocket camera in my pocket is anyone going to notice?
 
Also bear in mind that any photographs won't be clean landscapes as those big yellow poles tend to ruin the composition sometimes (of course you can use them to your advantage too).

Seeing as you will be a 2 minute walk away from the Emirates Air Line, take a ride over on the cable car. It offers some pleasant (although nothing particularly noteworthy) views and you can snap away with your DSLR, it's also very cheap and doesn't take long.

What's the worst that could happen? They ask you to put it away? I'd go for it until someone asked me to stop.

Looks like you'd be allowed to take a mobile phone but not a camera. Personally, I'd just take a mobile for a few snaps rather than risk (potentially) the whole group being escorted off.

You have to wear blue overalls. You might get away with a small camera, but only if if fits in the overall's tiny pocket.

Zero chance of taking a CSC or a DSLR.
 
It's a Microsoft corporate event so I'll have my Nokia 920 and hopefully a 1020 with the 42 megapixel camera...! Still not my DSLR but it'll have to do...!
 
As Warren said above, you have to wear a jumpsuit and the pockets don't really accomodate for a compact camera. They're just big enough for a mobile really. My department went on the roofwalk a while back and had to leave everything in lockers.
 
Well, turns out you *can* take a camera up there. You have a small bellows-type pocket on the jacket they supply and anything you can get in there is fair game.
I used my XF-1 but I'd say at a squeeze you might even get a CSC or MFT camera in there with a small lens.

Nice one! I missed out on my department's outing to do the roofwalk as I was in plaster but do want to do it and glad that you can fit a compact in the pocket. I have a really small compact so will take it with me
