Yes
I've noticed that the barn owl centre in Gloucester has photographers days (see http://www.barnowl.co.uk/)
It's 5 hours of photography and not far from me for only £60. Anyone else done it?

never been but will take a visit as it's the same distance as you. Thanks for posting the link, sorry can help on information.

I can say the hawk conservancy trust in Andover has great days. Not been on a official one but others I know have realy enjoyed them. Durring the bad weather I was the only visitor and got a great experience as they said it was like a photo day.

Cool cheers. My youngest has a teacher training day on the February date so I think I'll book it for the pair of us. He loved the WHF day so I think he needs another challenge.

Tempted myself, only an hour away. However I may struggle with an 18-55mm lens.

I havent done it myself but those I know who have done it say it was great. the birds are taken out into the grounds and posed ie a barnowl hovering over daffodils that sort of thing.
Have been meaning to give it a go myself but notgot around to it yet.

Not done it, but the guy that runs the centre (Think is Vince) is a photographer, and he runs the photography days, anybody i know thats done a day there has never had a bad word to say about it !

Rent a lens off Stewart - Lenses for hire?

Just booked. He asked what cameras we have as in the poor light we may have to push the ISO as he recommended we shoot at 1/1000th.

Lets just hope for a bright winters day

I have been a couple of times. Vince will do everything to help you get the shots you want.

You can take perches with you if you want and also ask him to fly the birds in a particular direction.

Lots of natural surroundings. Sometimes flies 2 Eagle Owls together.

BTW Vince is a Nikon man but don't hold that against him.

24th feb adore half term

Well, we went here today and what a great place. Its still work in progress but the handler couldn't have been more helpful.

We started with a buzzard, called Leighton static and flying shots, then a pair of eagle owls. Boy they are beautiful.
Then out came the golden eagle, followed by a couple of staged shots with little owls and we finished with some static shots of a barn owl, all done in natural surroundings, finishing as the sun set. We started at midday and had nearly 6 hours of shooting.

Hopefully some photos later, but a thoroughly enjoyable day. I'd recommend this to anyone and I'll be returning later in the year.
