You know what they say: if something seems too good to be true... But an imported Hoya UV filter works out a lot cheaper than buying from Jessops. Has anyone got any bad experiences to report, such as receiving the bottom of a milk bottle with 'Hoya' written on it in permanent marker...?

Haven't had the pleasure... just got outbid!!!!

:'(

I've bought several - Kenko brand, but made by Hoya, in 77mm and 72mm. They were all £1, from a source in this country -

Excellent quality, optically perfect, and worth every penny!! They all came in a well padded round acrylic filter case. I actually bought a rotating polariser for a fiver!!

Nice one, thanks...

Who are Sakar? Any good?

I have bought lots of bits from HK ... Including my 70-200 2.8 IS

No problems yet.

As with all Ebay purchases you need to do your homework first.

I have bought nearly all my filters from HK, as it worked out significantly cheaper over filters in the UK.

I have used this crowd:

To buy on various occasions:
52mm UV, 58mm UV, 67mm UV, 77mm UV,
52mm nd8, 52mm Circular Polariser,
77mm nd8, 77mm Circular Polariser, 77mm IR

Not had a single problem with them yet :)

I was dubious of HK filters but just bought a B&W filter and it was cheap and quick. Think, as said, that normal ebay precautions apply.

7dayshop sell Hoya Hama & other filters at very good prices - I'd rather get mine there & as they are affiliates a little comes back to the forum here
Paul ;)

I recently brought a 67mm Hoya UV Pro SHMC for £25 off ebay. The location of the seller was just up the road so thought I would risk it.

No problems at all.

It was geniuine article in genuine box and was in brand new unopened box (sealed with gold tape each end) in as new condition.

Was considering replaceing all my filters with the Pro SHMC versions for that price. I paid more in jessops for a bog standard non HMC Hoya UV.

Have bought loads of filters and various other camera related stuff with no probs.

No problems from highly reputable power sellers. go for it!
