Hi guys I'm wondering if you can help me out? I've upgraded my camera now to the 550D and really want to get out with it, but today's weather around my area is dull flat white skies and wondering what can I do with my camera on a day like today? I know landscapes are out of the question, and would like some ideas please? Thanks :)

Today is a perfect day for using that light as a huge natural diffuser :-)

So, some windowlit portraits if you have a willing model or some tabletop photography using windowlight as the shadows will be lovely and soft

Lot's of places where grey skies are either beneficial or have a minimal effect on the result..

Indoors - churches, cathedrals and castles, etc
Woodland - you can get good results
Landscapes - details where you can frame the shot to exclude the sky
Typologies - have a look at the work of the Bechers, most of their typologies were shot on grey overcast days

Here's a quick shot I just did for fun using natural window light and bounced some of it back using a placemat with tinfoil on it :-)

Granted I realised I used far to shallow a depth of field as the stormtrooper was the main point of focus but it shows you can use a day like today for some fun indoor shots :-)
