Any techniques for removing lens flare?

Specifically in this one...

The subject is a memorial to the Free French Navy during the war and as a local landmark might be quite a saleable shot if I can get rid of the green D shaped bit of flare. I've had a go at cloning it out with little success so I was hoping that there was a more effective alternative.

yes!

you dont have image edit selected though, so i wont do it, but if you make a small selection of the area under the flare, flip it vertically and blend it in, you can lose the green while keeping the look ok...
