Like the title says, I need something to fit the mighty 200-400 in with body attached and a few additional lenses, cards, batteries etc. I've tried the lowepro vertex 300aw but it's more like a case than something I could take out and about in the field.

I've looked at:

Manfrotto TLB-600 PL Pro Lite Tele Lens Backpack

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00KDZS2ZM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_q-uuxb8A0N7PY

And

Think Tank Glass Limo 600mm f4 lens Backpack

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009YYFK5S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_.-uuxbJM71EDX

The Manfrotto is in the lead at the minute but before I hit the buy button I wondered if you knowledgeable ladies and gents had any other suggestions.

Thanks.

Actually, I've done some further googling and this looks perfect for what I'm looking for, the glass limo with the 200-400 and some other lenses:

I think I've answered my own question but interested if anyone else knows of any others.

I have used Thinktank Streetwalker Pro and Streewalker Harddrive, which both have a similar fit to the Glass limo. If you want to use a TC with the 200-400 these are all a very tight fit, for this reason I moved to using a Lowepro Lens Trekker as this allowed the lens to be carried with the hood in position and with enough room for a TC.

I used to have a thinktank glass limo with the 200-400 f4. It does fit in but with no extra room at the top. It does mean you can't fit it in with a teleconverter attached. Im surprised the glass limo can fit 2 additional lenses in along with the 200-400, there didn't seem to be that much room down the sides when I had one. Another option is the lowepro pro Trekker 400, that fits the 200-400 down the centre with room either side for other kit. But again not with a teleconverter fitted.

Currently my bag for the 200-400 is a f-stop tilopa bc with a XL pro ICU. It fits the 200-400 on one side with plenty of room for additional lenses/cameras. I think it can fit the 200-400 with 1.4 and camera attached. Last year I took this bag filled with d800, d750, 85 f1.8, 16-35 f4, 70-200 f4, 200-400 f4, 1.4 TC and iPad. Only problem was the weight but f-stop bags spread the weight well. F-stops are good bags as you can vary what you carry by using different ICUs, that was the main reason for switching as having 3 bags for different setups/needs was a pain. They are more expensive but no more expensive that having 3 or 4 different bags. delivery times are currently long due to demand.

Thanks Rob, the tilopa looks like an excellent backpack. It looks big though, I guess it needs to be to fit all that kit in. I've not got a teleconverter yet so I guess the limo could work with that I have. Thanks for the response.

It's not that big considering that it's a proper backpack. The lowepro pro Trekker and vertex series bags are bigger. Looking at the measurements on their websites (see below) the tilopa is about 7-12cm bigger than the glass limo but around the same size as the manfrotto bag.

Glass limo 22.9 × 53.33 × 23.4cm

Manfrotto pro light 77 x 33x 30cm

Tilapia 59.7 x 35.6 x 30.5cm

I liked the glass limo for when I was only carrying only the 200-400, I'm surprised it can fit 2 additional lens in as it never looked big enough to me. The lack of pockets for carrying other bits you need like cards, blowers, lens wipes, right angle viewfinder, hat, gloves is very difficult. It all depends what you what to carry, I rarely carry more than a 200-400 and 70-200 with the one body but find I need pockets for hat, gloves, jacket and other small bits as well as camera stuff. The flexibility of the ICUs is the winner for me. The build quality also feels like it's up to the abuse it can get when out in the wilds.

Just to let you know the 200-400 with 1.4 TC attached to the camera with battery grip does fit in. There is enough room down the side for 70-200 f2.8, 24-120 f4 and an additional body with battery grip. I've packed it up this morning for a day out at a local air show. My only gripe is it would be nice to have some wider dividers as there is still a little room (1-2cm) between the side divider and the 200-400. That gap can be taken up by rain covers. I can post a picture later of filled ICU to give you s better idea.
