I have just purchased a Nikon P520 Camera and didn't realise until I got home that there is no memory card with it.

It takes an SD type card and am wondering if there is any particular make or type that is particularly well recommended.

Thanks in advance of any help/advice offered.

my memory seems to have some of the best prices around. Reliable and fast. Check out the offers first.

I think SanDisk are probably thought of as the best, and a class 10 for speed.

(other makes are available!)

Hiya kendo1m thank you for your input. I had SanDisk in my mind but wasn't100% certain. I also wasn't aware that there are different classes of them in respect of speed.
Thank you for your help. I will get my order in today.

Any SD card should do. Obviously the faster the better. Sandisk have never let me down across numerous cameras, compact, bridge, dslr ... I usually get the fastest I can afford at the time. It's worth it in the long run. Class 10, 45/MBs or 90/MBs

Thanks for this info, have placed my order now.

Edit, haven't placed my order after all. I spotted that there is also a micro SD card available. can anyone tell me how I can determine if the one I require is standard or micro. I have looked at the camera reviews and it just says SD. can I assume that this would mean 'Standard'?

Yip. A standard SD card is fine, but I think you can also use a Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) card with up to 32 GB of storage if you want this. Some older card readers don't work with them, but card readers are inexpensive.

I'm not aware of any cameras that use Micro SD cards as standard. You can get an adapter to do this, but there's really no point.

As Martyn and Keith said. Standard SD card size.

The one you've chosen should be fine. Probably a few thousand pics on that!

Hi Martyn, Thank you for this info. Yes I spotted the SDHC cards and thought that I would go for this type once I could confirm the size needed. Thanks again for confirming. I can now place my order with confidence.

Hi again kendo1, I didn't realise that it would hold that many shots, I could probably go for something smaller (and cheaper too) I expect.

Depends if your using it for video. I don't know the camera off-hand.

It should say in the instruction manual :)

Ah yes, I'd completely forgotten the video side of things, so I think that I will stick with my choice. Thanks again.
