Any plumbers able to shed any light on this one.

We have a kitchen mixer tap which has developed a leak. The obvious problem is the cartridge, we've tried a couple of different cartridges from local plumber suppliers round here and none appear to fit. The thread of the cartridge body does not fit the actual tap housing.

How many different thread gauges are there for tap cartridges and how do we figure out which cartridge is needed that'll fit?!

Any of you guys any clues?

The hot and cold taps usually have the same body so it should be possible to turn off the mains (or isolate the cold tap) and remove the cold cartridge so you can take it to the plumbing supply place.

Take the tap head as well, I had the same problem not with the thread but with the length of the cartridge and I ended up replacing the tap heads as I could not find the correct length cartridge

Can't help directly but we have the same problem and found this video

there are loads of different cartridge sizes and that, as you have found, it is easy to get the wrong one.

A worthwhile 10 minutes or so.

Thanks. Will take a look when I’ve got 10 minutes. :)

It’s a mixer tap. Our plumber (wondering how much of one he is) has done that and three times come back with the wrong cartridge!

Not so simple to remove the whole tap. Especially as the cartridge fits into the bottoms end which is bolted to the kitchen top.

I use this place, they have never failed me. Quick, accurate and good value.

There are hundreds if not thousands of different ones.
