Hi there,

just new to this forum and wondering if anyone is still using Nikon D1H and has any opinions on it. I am looking for a digi SLR body that will be able to use it exposure metering with an old Nikon 600mm f4 (I have a D100 but this only works with the lens on fully manual settings, D1 series works with the lens on aperture priority (like my F5).) I wish to be able to print for personal use up to A4 and will mainly want to do bird flight shots.

Any opinions out there? Or other suggestions please!

Many thanks

James

Not sure if it was ever confirmed or not, but can the D80 meter with manual lenses, too?

I think that the D200 may possibly do this, but unfortunatley can't warrant (or find) the cash necessary to get one! I've just done some test printing with D100 RAW convert to Adobe TIFF files and downgraded files to equivalent D1H files, with interpolation in Adobe done quickly there is suprisingly little difference! May carry on pursuit of D1H!

Thanks for help and suggestions

J

I've got a D1x and it's fine for printing up to A1 with a slight amount of pixellation. Anything below A2 size at 300dpi is 'photo-quality' to all intents and purposes.
Wanna buy it? Look in the 'for sale' section...
