Yes
I have seen these as I walk past a local mine and thought to myself I'm going to lower a camera down with a big light to see whats down there ( proberbly see nothing, or dip it in water)
Sorry taken with a fisheye lens

I went around the corner where they have been doing some forestry work and found this one that had been Killed by their plant machinery ( Black tube and cap had been ripped off), I'm guessing they just hook up to these taps to get Gas readings , am I right ?

Perhaps it/they are Water level assessment dipping points?

I opened this expecting to find you had unearthed some sort of anti personnel device, most disappointed that its more mundane and related to just unearthing.

I would think the same as BB, or a vent although the ones i have seen tend to be taller i.e well above head level.

Is there a known mine working under there? It could be a methane outlet from past landfill too otherwise maybe.

I would say the double unit is still in recent use , the nozzle end is clean , and the Phillips screw is bright and shiny

First one looks like a Gas vent. The second one may well be a monitoring connector

Yes, they are all around the Kinlet Coal Mine ( A regular dog walk of mine), I had presumed they were just a tube to lower sensors into but when I came across this one that had been killed by logging equipment it proved different than I had thought , Maybe each one is different under the black tube and cap. Having been a Caver/Mine Explorer in the past I know you get some dangerous gas Levels underground and in a lot of the disused mines they allow them to fill with water as the water pressure helps to stop the mine collapsing.

One thing that I do know. It is not "mine"!
