Hi guys

I'm looking to improve on my Lightroom skills, or lack of! I still find it difficult and don't know half of the things that can be done on it. Is there any dedicated courses available that I can do to help me? Many thanks.

There are plenty of courses online that you can purchase, but before you splash cash on anything have a browse through Youtube. There are so many video tutorials, I'm yet to find a series that covers everything but I suspect it is all available in different places.

It also depends what you shoot though and how much editing you want to do. There seems to be a lot of focus on Landscape PP on Youtube.

Thanks. Yes, I've seen some of the short videos on YouTube which is handy but I would rather do a full course to keep myself right. Is there any particular companies that offer this?

Juleanne Kost is my go-to guru : http://tv.adobe.com/product/lightroom/show/featured/

Some colleges may run an evening class. I know ours does because I take it. Some people prefer the personal/social side of learning rather than YouTube.

These - Use the proper Adobe tutorials. Start with the basics, get the idea of the program as it's a workflow tool, then learn the various features. People miss that it's a workflow tool so completely miss the point of it.

Start at the basics and work from there. It's a great product

the Institute of Photography do a Lightroom course as I am currently ploughing through it at the moment. Ironically it just uses the videos created by some rather hyper American guy who knows his stuff but in my view doesn't get it down to a basic enough level for beginners like me. Fortunately I didn't pay anywhere near the full course fee and I also use Youtube, Fujilove etc for picking up tips. To be honest as I use Fuji kit I tend to go with using the jpegs for my daily requirements. I am slowly getting to grips putting the RAF files through LR though :)

Another vote for Julieanne Kost.

I watched one of Morganti's "tutorials" and the first thing he did was slam the highlights & shadows sliders to 100%, which I thought was very bad advice.
I haven't watched any more of Morganti's efforts, although I know some people think he's wonderful.

The trouble with YouTube, and the internet in general, is that anyone can proclaim themselves an "Expert" and post any old rubbish they want, and it's sometimes difficult to sort the good from the bad.
