Yes
At some point this year I plan to replace my MacBook. My one is still fine, can get warm and battery not at good as it was, but it does struggle at times and would like something faster.

What I don't want to do us get one, then a month later a newer one comes out. If I know when a new one is likely I then can start saving towards it. Although I like the retina ones I don't think the screen worth the extra, and I find the flash memory too small but love the size and weight of them.

Intels Haswell (next gen architecture) is out around June. My bet (and I don't follow any Apple rumours at all) is it will be in Q3.

theres also some debate whether itll only end up in the retina models
Not sure what you're saying here Neil. Do you mean different generation processors in retina/non-retina models or only retina models?

Different gen processors in retina/non retina. I.e. only having the new gen in the retinas. If they don't scrub the non retina that is.

If they do, I think that's a mistake.....

sooner or later non-retina has to go. I truly hope it is next June/July which must also mean a more sensibly priced retina. The TN 1280px screens are totally pathetic unless you only read emails and watch youtube

You could also apply that to the thunderbolt displays, next to a retina they look vile :D

Wonder how much apple would charge for a 27" thunderbolt retina :gag:

You are right indeed, and to add further weight there seem to be shortages of them in some parts of the world. I am pretty sure that in the meantime apple & co are struggling to design the first 4k 27" monitor, and it would better be non glossy too.
At least the current ones are IPS, not inferior TN in MBPs

Expensive is almost given. I think they could easily charge Eizo/NEC money at least for the start. But we do need to start somewhere, right?
