Any ideas for lenses?

Me again..sorry lol, all my questions come out so stupid but I'm paranoid about spending god knows how much money on something a bit useless...

I want to buy another lens for my Nikon D40x because the one I got with it (18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G EDII) hasn't got an amazing zoom on it..And I dunno, I figure I can probably get a better one because all together it was £320 which isn't really that much..

Any ideas? I'm mainly wanting to use my camera for outdoor pictures of my horses jumping if that helps..

Maybe consider the Nikon 70-300 VR? Not too expensive, and is an AF-S lens, so will work on your camera body.

Saying that though, it might help a little if you could give a budget ceiling? That way we could better recommend lenses withing that budget :)
 
What sort of lens are you after. Do you want a better quality lens with the same (ish) zoom range, or are you after something longer.

And yes your budget would be a good idea, It's great fun spending other peoples money:lol:
 
Ooh yeah sorry, budget helps. Errm I have £2700 saved up but that's all my savings and would rather not spend al lthat on a lens.

I have no idea how expensive they are so this might sound really ott but think I'd be happy to spend £500 - £700...

I do want a further zoom, but more important is a lens which is as good as possible at taking action shots.
