Don't bother replacing with a halogen. They take crazy amounts of power for the light they give and blow often. Screwfix sell an led for about a fiver that's much less power and longer lasting. Even cheaper on the 'bay.

FWIW I agree :agree::plus1:

I have replaced all of our lights with LEDs including the kitchen strip fluorescent one plus I got dimmable ones for the main rooms. However, that needed me to replace the dimmer units to ones suitable for LED usage. If you are comfortable with electrics (no harder IMO than changing a plug) then you just buy the modules and swap out.....meaning the switch faceplates are unchanged :)

And you can handle LED lamps with bare fingers rather than needing to use a tissue or gloves as you do with halogen lamps.

Thanks everyone the bulb is from an oil burner so unfortunatley needs to be halogen to provide the heat. i pass a couple of Screwfix's each day so I will use then.

As already mentioned, its a G9

I have several light fittings that have had the same bulbs ( G9) for many years,
It seems they will no longer be for sale towards the end of the year.
I'd better buy a few just in case, the cheapness v the cost of the LED's most likely outweighs the running costs, of the halogen ones.

I go out of my way to not buy anything that requires ludicrous replacement lamps like capsule lamps.
Unfortunately, my lamp control does not extend to other members of this household.
Their thoughts on lighting purchases do not involve sensible lamp options, as long as it looks pretty, is a bargain ???? and you can buy it online from John Lewis, its a done deal.
Stupid lamps are, anything that isn't BC or GU10, you can shove your SES candle lamps, golf balls and capsule lamps up your arris....:)
